Contract with marathon skating team extended through to 2026
We have been associated with the Reggeborgh marathon skating team as a main sponsor since 2022. This partnership has now been extended through to the 2025-2026 marathon skating season. Coach Roy Boeve has also received a contract extension. Until 2026, he will continue to lead the team that includes Gary Hekman, Crispijn Ariëns, Bart and Evert Hoolwerf.

‘We are immensely pleased that the Reggeborgh Foundation will remain associated with our team through the 2025-2026 season. This gives us great confidence and confirmation that the road ahead is the right one. In the past year, we were able to show good results. We have been dominant in important marathon races. We want to stay on that course next season. All focus is now on the new marathon ice skating season. The atmosphere on the team is extremely good. We’re looking forward to the first marathon race on 21 October,’ said an elated coach Roy Boeve.
Excellent team performance
‘We got into marathon ice skating in 2022 and won some great trophies last season, such as the first win of the year on natural ice, the Dutch Championship and the alternative Elfstedentocht skating event on natural ice on Lake Weissensee in Austria. Skating marathons is a totally different discipline from the long-track races. That’s why we’re happy to have been able to extend our partnership for another three years,’ said Reggeborgh's Inge Wessels.
Sporting ambitions for this season
‘This year, too, we would like to bring in big marathon trophies, which means winning the championships on artificial ice, on natural ice, and the alternative Elfstedentocht event,’ said Roy Boeve. ‘In addition, with Bart and Evert Hoolwerf, we have the ambition to do well in the mass start and team pursuit events, with the ultimate goal of competing in the World Mass Start and Team Pursuit event.’
‘Winning races, contributing socially’
‘Besides top performances on the ice, the marathon skating team also makes an important contribution to charity,’ says Maaike Heethaar, director of the Reggeborgh Foundation. ‘This year, the team is taking action for Villa Joep, the foundation dedicated to eradicating childhood neuroblastoma. Winning races and contributing socially is the form of collaboration we strive for.’
Coach Boeve stresses the importance of this form of collaboration: ‘Sport and society seem to be two different domains, but they actually have a lot in common. We are aware that there is more to sport than excellence. It’s in our DNA to also contribute socially.’
