Reggeborgh Foundation and FBK Games strengthen partnership to grow para athletics
Reggeborgh Foundation and the FBK Games are strengthening their partnership to further develop the para athletics programme. In the lead-up to the FBK Games on 21 June 2026, they met with para athletes and the national coach to discuss how the programme can continue to grow.
Among those present were paralympic and world champion shot putter Lara Baars and WK silver medallist in long jump Kiki Hendriks. Together, they had an open and constructive conversation about the future of para athletics within the FBK Games.
During the interactive session, athletes shared their experiences and ideas on how to further improve their competition experience, enhance the experience for spectators, and increase the visibility of para athletics. Topics ranged from strengthening the field of participants and improving visibility, to providing clearer explanations for audiences about the different classification categories. The insights from these discussions will be taken on board by the FBK organisation and the national coach in the preparations for the FBK Games on 21 June, as well as for future editions of the event.
Through this collaboration, Reggeborgh Foundation and the FBK Games aim to give para athletes the platform they deserve. Ellen van Langen, meeting director of the FBK Games, said: “Including paralympic events in our programme during the previous edition of the FBK Games was very successful. The collaboration with Reggeborgh Foundation and the inspiration of para athletes make us excited to further expand the paralympic programme.”
Together, they are building a programme that empowers athletes, brings fans closer to the sport, and contributes to the continued growth of para athletics.
