Reggeborgh athletes at the start of the anniversary edition of the Holten Triathlon
On Friday 3 and Saturday 4 July, Holten will once again be the centre of attention for both elite and grassroots sport during the 40th edition of the Holten Triathlon. As a proud sponsor, Reggeborgh Foundation has been associated with this international event for many years, bringing together over 1,000 volunteers and more than 2,500 participants. This year, Reggeborgh Foundation will also be prominently represented at the start line, with athletes from both Reggeborgh Speed Skating Team and talented young athletes from the Groene Appeltjes programme.
Reggeborgh Speed Skating Team in action during the corporate relay
On Friday 3 July, several skaters from Reggeborgh Speed Skating Team will swap the ice for a completely different challenge: swimming, cycling and running during the corporate relay.
Trainer and coach Gerard van Velde, the 2002 Olympic champion, will be at the starting line. Together with fellow trainers/coaches Robin Derks (swimming) and Dennis van der Gun (running), he will form a team competing on the challenging course in Holten.
In addition, two teams of Reggeborgh speed skaters will be in action, featuring, amongst others, reigning world sprint champion Jenning de Boo, all-rounder Marcel Bosker, 1,500-metre specialist Wesly Dijs and the strong sprinter Mats Siemons.
De Boo will take on the swimming leg, whilst Bosker and Dijs will focus on the cycling leg. Siemons will round off the relay with the running leg.
Groene Appels represented in both the relay and the international competition
Groene Appels team from Reggeborgh Foundation will also be in action in Holten. During the corporate relay, Olympic canoe slalom athlete Joris Otten, short-track speed skater Leon Visser and middle-distance runner Max Swabedissen, amongst others, will be competing.
On Saturday 4 July, Aniek Mars, from Raalte, will line up at the start of the Europe Triathlon Premium Cup. The talented triathlete recently won silver at the Dutch U23 Championships over the Olympic distance and will have the chance in Holten to compete against a strong international field.
